2020. What a brutal fucking year. As far riding, my season started about mid February.

3 weeks later, it came to a brutal pause. I lost the front end on a highway on ramp March 8th. I destroyed my beloved 2011 Triumph daytona 675 in caspian blue.

Did a dam good number on myself too. I fractured my spine in 11 places (T1-L1) both shoulder blades, tore a rotator cuff, bruised my ass and worst of all, had some brain trauma.

3 months. 3 months of recovery is what it took for me to get back to normal. a month of which was in hospital (1 week at sunnybrook hospital in toronto, and then 3 weeks at mount siani in the center of the city for rehab)

I was told I wouldnt be able to ride this year. The final KM count is 15,000km (give or take). So eat THAT docs.

Then, in September, lighting struck twice. I had a lady turn left in front of my on my 1994 VFR 750. A bike I had spend 3 years restoring. I only ended up putting like 1000km on this bike before it was ripped from my possession . I walked away from that crash, having done a front flip over a hood of a nissan rogue (seriously, fuck ro gu es) and keeps going. I need a new helmet . But I pretty much didnt ride for the rest of the year.

O verall? This was a really shitty year for me. On top of the two accidents, I was un- able to travel to the US to do my yearly tail of the dragon trip. Something I look forward to every year to get an escape from the world up here. It was sorely needed this time around, and I couldnt do it.

And other thing, i wasnt able to ride my 1992 CBR250RR at all! A lot of you love this little bike on the account of its CRAZY 19,000 RPM redline, a number even F1 cars struggle to hit. But I sent it off June 1st to the top race shop in the country (a 2 hour drive from me, conveniently ) to get the nearly 30 year old suspension torn apart, updated, and set to my weight and riding style.
the bike was there for 14 weeks. 3 and a half months. I told them to not worry about WHAT needed to be done (in terms of cost and time frame) just to get the best done to it. With COVID, and the fact that this is a 30 year old, JDM imported bike, meant that work took that full 14 weeks.

So, I went down 2 bikes this year. I did about 1/2 the milage I normally do. And I was significantly less confident on 2 wheels, esp at the start, then I was in the past.

Its not all bad. I did 3 track days this year, 2 back to back, and the 3rd a week before hand (shannonville twice, and cayuga once) It cemented in me that this platform NEEDS to be on track to get the most extracted from it. So, next year (well, this winter) i will be pulling my track bike (also a daytona 675) and be refreshing it and updating it (fixxing it) for track use next year .

Good bye 2020. and Good fucking riddance.

I’m glad that you’re ok from your crashes...

I havent done my yearly tail trip either this year (it was planned for later this month) since the motor died in the Vette. Fuck 2020.

Although I still have 3 more autox event which I'll probably drive the Mini at and/or my friends S2000.

You need to move to the west coast. The season runs a looong time.

But, you know...Vancouver drivers.

I'm just glad you're still with us! As for 2020, and I look forward to it being gone, but I worry about what next year will bring at this point...

Can I interest you in a crack house for $1.3M? It’s a great starter home! lol

No interior photos, because we either couldn’t get the blood stains all out, or there’s 50 squatters inside with knives.

I’m hoping to get at least a couple more weeks of riding in although it’s getting awfully cold in the mornings, 28°F today, but should be beautiful this afternoon. Normally I get a couple rides in in November but the season is coming to an end pretty quick.

Lots of winter projects though to keep me busy, just maintenance for the XL, maintenance and handlebar changes for the Warrior, and a paint job if I’ve got the money , gonna prep the XR600R and try my hand and some hair scrambles next year, so that needs tires, suspension parts and tuning, and the little RX50 needs rewiring and tuning.

My yearly fishing trip to Canada got canceled this year too which put me in a slump all summer. Here’s to hoping 2021 gets better.

Based on your experiences and also since I started mountain biking this year , I’m going to buy a dual sport bike to complement the ZX14R next spring . I can’t stand people in cars anymore and rather take my chances in the woods. Looked at Husky FE501s yesterday and it will probably be my next bike. I’m going to keep on riding until we get our first ice/snow storm; actually took the bike into work today since it’s going to be 74 F (23C) and sunny.

yea, I have a list of shit that needs to get done on all the bikes. The quickest to get dont will be the white daytona, but it also needs some $$ thrown at it.

Huh, I did not know you had a CBR250RR. One of my friends has a JDM one. Got it for stupid cheap, but a year and a half later he’s still waiting on paperwork... it looks very nice in the garage though.
